Give the Gift that Keeps on Giving
Today is Giving Tuesday! It’s a day that unleashes the power of people to transform communities by giving to causes closest to their hearts. If you are looking to make a charitable donation, today is a great day to do it! All online donations* will be matched dollar-for-dollar thanks to the generosity of our Board of Directors. With your support, The Conservation Fund can continue protecting the places that matter most in every U.S. state while strengthening economic outcomes. Here are some recent milestones for inspiration! (*up to $200,000).
Flocking to Fairbanks: Alaskan Dairy Farm Now a Waterfowl Sanctuary
Creamer’s Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge recently gained over 500 acres of important wetland habitat and recreational trails in Fairbanks, Alaska. Once a working dairy farm, the Refuge now attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to view over 60 different species of migrating birds.
A Historic Effort: Minnesota Gains 72,000-acre Heritage Forest
We recently purchased 72,440 acres of forestland from PotlatchDeltic Corp. in Minnesota—one of the state’s largest conservation acquisitions to date. Our purchase is the first step in a larger strategy to preserve important working forestlands, safeguard jobs, help mitigate climate change, protect water quality and wildlife habitat, contribute to local economies, and expand opportunities for outdoor recreation—a nearly $17 billion industry in Minnesota.
Return to Us: Restoring Alaska’s Eklutna River
After years of mistreatment, returning the Eklutna River back to a vibrant, fish-filled ecosystem has been a long, yet fulfilling challenge. From removing an old dam, to pouring buckets of water back into the river by hand—restoring Eklutna has taken a village. Our recent short film tells the beautiful story of this valuable river’s restoration.
