Conservation in a Pandemic: A New Perspective
The past few months have given us an enhanced appreciation for the outdoors and open spaces. As our Midwest Project Director, Clint Miller, puts it: “I’m busier now than I’ve been in years because demand for conservation is way up. Perhaps people now have more time to think about larger life decisions.”
Clint reflects on his life as a conservationist, and how he’s adapting during COVID-19 in our latest blog story.
Restoring Watersheds and Hope for Endangered Fish Populations
Blockage of streams and rivers can prevent watershed connectivity and the essential passageway of vulnerable fish populations. Our acquisition of the 27,000-acre Pleasant River Headwaters Forest in Maine created an opportunity to restore this connectivity for fish migrating in the Penobscot River Watershed—great news for native brook trout and the federally endangered Gulf of Maine population of Atlantic salmon, which depend on this watershed for their survival.
