Protecting Habitat for Wings, Fins and Paws

Greetings to all who recently discovered us — and thank you to all who supported us  last month as we celebrated Earth Day. Together, we are building more sustainable communities while ensuring lasting protection for wildlife and their habitats. Here are some of our latest efforts.

National Park Expands in West Virginia

Our nation’s newest national park just got a little bigger thanks to our collaboration with the National Park Service. This exciting news was celebrated at an event last month during which the newly protected 963 acres were dedicated within the preserve portion of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in West Virginia. The addition is poised to greatly increase the amount of public land available for hunting and outdoor recreation activities.

Decades of Dedication to the Florida Wildlife Corridor

Protecting Florida's vital wildlife corridor has long been prioritized by conservationists. It’s not just plants and animals relying on this land for survival in the Sunshine State; Florida’s human residents, visitors and economy also rely on a healthy environment. That’s why we’re helping to propel the Florida Wildlife Corridor initiative forward through the completion of critical land conservation efforts.

New Video Looks Closer at Alaska’s Bristol Bay

Bristol Bay made headlines when the Pedro Bay Corporation, an Alaska Native village corporation, partnered with us to permanently protect more than 44,000 acres of critical habitat for salmon, bears and other wildlife. Now, a new video from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, which made a grant to The Conservation Fund through its Acres for America program funded by Walmart, offers a unique look at this remote wilderness, demonstrating exactly why the project was so critical and highlighting some of the partnerships that were required to get the job done.
